Project Summary

PATH’s mission is a global team of innovators working to accelerate health equity so all people and communities can thrive. They advise and partner with public institutions, businesses, grassroots groups, and investors to solve the world’s most pressing health challenges. Though PATH opened an office in Beijing in 2003, the global health leader saw an opportunity to enhance its connections with government officials in the Chinese health sector and engage more directly with China’s biotech industry. PATH wanted to introduce its Seattle-based CEO to the organization’s Chinese partners and strengthen his connections with leaders in the Chinese public health community.

Solution

Nyhus organized an invitation-only event at the Beijing residence of the U.S. Ambassador to China. Drawing from its deep network in China and relationship with the U.S. Embassy, Nyhus confirmed more than 150 high-level Chinese and American officials to attend the event, including the former Chinese Minister of Health and several industry leaders. U.S. Ambassador Gary Locke and PATH CEO Steve Davis addressed attendees and provided critical insight into PATH’s work in China, as well as its accomplishments and leadership in the global health community.

Results

• The reception in Beijing positioned PATH as a leading voice in China’s public health and advocacy sector.
• The event resulted in PATH’s executive team developing lasting connections with its Chinese partners.
• PATH’s Beijing office strengthened key relationships with the Chinese government.
