Katherine is an account supervisor specializing in strategic communications, legislative affairs, community and government relations and advocacy. She developed her tactical approaches through more than a decade of achievements in government and community affairs in Seattle and Olympia, Washington.
A member of the public affairs team, Katherine offers a unique local perspective on issues affecting the Puget Sound region, focusing on land use, development, transportation and large-scale infrastructure issues for private and public clients.
Katherine is a Seattle native, yet received her Bachelor of Arts in political theory and English literature from James A. McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Prior to Nyhus, she owned her own consulting practice, as well as served as the first strategic policy analyst at the Downtown Seattle Association. She has worked for two Seattle city councilmembers on issues related to land use and transportation.
Katherine serves on the boards of directors for Seattle Tilth and the Ravenna-Bryant Community Association, and is an active committee member with CASE and Mary’s Place. Past board service includes the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program Stakeholder Committee, Pedestrian Advisory Board and the Downtown District Council.
