What are you looking forward to most in your new position?
In my internship, I’m looking forward to working with some of the best writers, speakers and creatives in Seattle and joining a diverse and inclusive team! In addition, I’m excited to get my hands dirty and get involved in as many projects as possible.
What is your favorite thing about working in the PR/PA industry?
I’ve never been the kind of person who likes doing the same thing day after day. In PR/PA, every day is something different. Whether it be a crisis, a new client, or even just a brainstorming session, every day is opportunity to try or learn something new.
What is your proudest career moment?
Meeting up with Governor Inslee to talk about the importance of creating a budget that puts Higher Education near the top of the priority list.
What’s one thing about you that would surprise me?
When I was growing up, and up to the time that I was in my second year of college, I was almost certain I would become a dentist. It only took a couple of job shadowing sessions to discover how wrong I was!
Any advice for aspiring PR/PA pros?
The most important and valuable tip I can offer people looking to pursue a career in PR/PA is to grow and utilize their personal and professional networks. Meeting up with PR/PA professionals and talking about their career path and the things they wish they’d known when they first started their career can really help put things in perspective. Later, when it comes time to find a job, you can reach out to your network and even if they don’t have any opportunities, it’s likely that they can (and will) help point you in the right direction.
