Kiersten Nelson

ACCOUNT MANAGER

Kiersten brings to the Nyhus team more than a decade of experience in politics and government affairs where she has worked with political action committees, and in public policy creation, legislative affairs, government, and community relations. Her insights provide valuable insights for Nyhus’ commercial real estate and public affairs clients.

Prior to joining Nyhus Communications, Kiersten spent more than four years with TrueBlue, a national staffing solutions company, managing all state and local government relations efforts across the United States. There, she launched and later expanded issue-specific grassroots campaigns to engage local elected officials on proposed legislation. Previously, Kiersten spent four years working for former Congressman Jay Inslee, supporting him on a wide variety of issues and legislation spanning the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs to the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission.

Kiersten received her master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Colorado with a focus on nonprofits and policy integration with the public sector. She is a graduate of the University of Portland where she majored in global business and French. Kiersten studied abroad in Paris, France taking courses at La Sorbonne and L’Institute Catholique. Kiersten also earned a PAC and Grassroots Management certificate from the Public Affairs Council.

A Northwest native, Kiersten’s love for the outdoors came from parents who were hiking majors at Western Washington University. She is a Francophile with a love of English football and when not at work, can be founding dragging her husband out to the pub for Arsenal matches or walking their two Bernese Mountain dogs.
