5 Questions with Isobel Press

Our prodigal intern, Isobel Press returned as an Account Coordinator and we couldn’t be happier to welcome her back. In this edition of ‘5 Questions’ we learn the words Isobel lives by and what she’s looking forward to most in her new role.

What is your proudest career moment?
My proudest career moment to date was actually when I received the job offer to join Nyhus as a full-time, permanent employee. I was an intern at Nyhus soon after graduating from college, so to receive an offer to join the team a year and a half later was solid proof to me that hard work pays off in some pretty incredible ways.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I can probably be found exploring our fair city in all of its glory. Seattle is a city of neighborhoods, and each one has a distinct flavor. I love discovering the various oddities in each neighborhood: a semi-secret fortune cookie company in the Chinatown-International District; the bronze sidewalk dance steps in Capitol Hill; Seattle’s oldest espresso bar in the University District, etc.

What are you looking forward to most in your new position?
In my new role as Account Coordinator, I am most looking forward to supporting and assisting the team as a whole—both internally and externally. We have some pretty incredible clients here at Nyhus, so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help out on client-facing projects. At the same time, I’m excited to help expand our own marketing arm and social media presence.

What words do you live by?
My all-time favorite quote has to be: “In a gentle way, you can shake the world,” by Mahatma Gandhi. I love the imagery it gives; along with the idea that it’s entirely possible to be a force of nature without being violent or mean. I also love the quote “proceed as if success is inevitable”; I feel like it speaks volumes for me as a young woman early on in my career journey.

Any advice for aspiring PR/PA pros?
As a semi-recent graduate myself, my advice for current PR/PA students would be this: never turn down a learning opportunity, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s impossible to read people’s minds, and it’s impossible for them to read yours. When in doubt, over-communicate! After all, that’s what we do best.
