In the newest installment of our “5 Questions” series, we get to know our summer intern, Andrew Newman!
What are you looking forward to most in your new position?
I am most looking forward to learning more and more about the PR/PA industry as I transition into my new role. It is a relatively new industry to me and I am excited about being at a firm in the heart of the industry where I can be exposed to new ideas and concepts daily.
What is your proudest career moment?
The proudest moment of my career hasn’t happened yet. My proudest moment will be when I get to watch the first senior class at Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School, the school where I spent the past year volunteering with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, graduate and head off to college. It was such a powerful and informing year where I had the opportunity to work with a group of dedicated students and it will make me incredibly proud to watch them graduate and head off to their respective colleges.
What’s the best part about your new job so far?
The best part about my new job is the number of opportunities that I’ve been given to sit in on client meetings, assist in event planning, and support the account managers. Learning new skills and being able to use those to support different clients has been important to my development as a young professional in the PR/PA industry.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I would normally say that I like to spend my time catching up with friends and family, but right now my private life is taken up with studying for the LSAT and law school applications. Weirdly enough, I oddly find the LSAT interesting and have learned to appreciate how it forces me to think critically. Once that is over, however, I anticipate that I will get back to spending time grabbing coffee and dinner with friends.
What was your New Year’s resolution?
My New Year’s resolution was to update my blog weekly, which was a miserable failure. It was a combination of getting too busy and not being able to articulate what I wanted to write, but either way it was a failure and I’m sure my next resolution will be much more successful (probably not).
