Mike brings to the Nyhus team over a decade of experience in politics and government, where he has worked in campaign finance, public affairs, legislative relations, and strategic communications. Mike serves as an account supervisor where he advises on outreach and communications strategies, supporting both the public affairs and public relations practices.

Prior to joining the firm, Mike owned his own political consulting firm, Gilmore Strategies, based in Los Angeles. Mike assisted his clients with political fundraising, non-profit development, and strategic investing needs. Before starting his business, Mike spent several years in Washington, DC as a regional finance director for the Democratic National Committee and Obama re-election campaign. Mike has also worked for a number of local elected officials, including Senator Maria Cantwell, former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, and Representative Jim McDermott.

As a native of Spokane, Mike attended Gonzaga University for his freshman year before transferring to Seattle University. There, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Mike was adopted by his rescue dog, Louie, in 2014, and has remained a passionate supporter of animal welfare ever since.
