Nyhus Summer Office Olympics 2016

Nyhus Summer Office Olympics 2016

Bummed that the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio have come to a close? You’re not alone, the entire Nyhus team was captivated by the games and isn’t quite ready to let them go. In fact, we became so inspired that we decided to hold our own Nyhus Office Olympics—complete with medals (no taxes on them!) and of course, lots of commentary from onlookers as the events unfolded before our eyes. Which events were included, you ask? They were narrowed down to three prestigious contests:

Chair Rowing: Competitors must use a rod to push their office chair towards the finish line. Contact is encouraged.

Target Shooting: Contestants throw Sharpies at paper targets from a fixed distance. Must leave a mark (on target, not contestant) to score.

Coffee Mug Marathon: Athletes carrying piping hot coffee cups filled to the brim must circle the office at least six times, before bouncing ten times on an exercise ball while holding the cup. Winners were judged by a combination of fastest time, cleanest pants and lack of burns. No interns were harmed during this event.

Mike Gilmore interviews John Christensen after his epic win in the Coffee Cup Marathon. John thanked his family and close friends for their unwavering support while he trained for the games. Katherine MacKinnon (far right, 4th place) looks on, reconciling with the fact that she must wait another four years for a shot at Olympic redemption.
