Continuing our “5 Questions” series, we catch up with Aaron Vetter, who shares his impressions of the Nyhus company culture and what he learned from growing up on the farm.
What are you looking forward to most in your new position?
Nyhus’ size and effort to have employees work across multiple disciplines creates a great environment for learning opportunities. I’m lucky to have access to smart and talented professionals who are open to answering questions and letting me try my hand at something new to me.
What is your favorite thing about working in the PR/PA industry?
Every day is different. Even if you are working with the same client, the landscape is always changing. We have to be on top of what is happening in our communities and be willing to constantly learn. I enjoy the fast-paced, collaborative work and this industry fulfills my desire for just a touch of intensity.
What’s the best part about your new job so far?
The Nyhus team is pretty incredible. Everyone has been welcoming and helpful, and the work they turn out every day is remarkable. It’s great coming to work knowing that I’ll spend my day with people who challenge me, who make me laugh and who consistently deliver excellence.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m a political junkie and policy wonk who will follow any election. Whether it’s a presidential race or port commissioner race, I’m probably keeping tabs. If I’m not at a community event or organizing for a cause, I’m probably writing in a local coffee shop, helping a friend build a computer or working up the energy to go to the gym.
What’s one thing about you that would surprise me?
Though I’m an urbanist at heart who loves density, walkable neighborhoods and transit, I grew up in rural Washington on a small family farm. People are often surprised when I tell them that I know how to raise cattle and deliver a litter of piglets. Though you won’t find me back out in the country much, I can drive a tractor like the best of them.
