Continuing our “5 Questions” series, meet Joe Loeffler. Joe joined Nyhus Communications after working in Washington D.C. where he represented a collection of Washington State interests. He is a native of Eastern Washington which provides Nyhus clients and colleagues unique insights from both sides of the mountains. We sat down with Joe to discuss his role:
What is your favorite thing about working in the PR/PA industry?
I spent years in Washington, D.C. working with Congress as an advocate for my clients. The methods employed were technologically outdated and somewhat constricted by political gridlock. Nevertheless, my affinity for politics and government persisted. Working with Nyhus I find the best part of the PA industry to be the freedom to utilize a vast assortment of tools to achieve client success, keeping things interesting and encouraging creative approaches.
How do you see the public affairs/PR landscape changing in the next few years?
The technology powering national political campaigns has experienced astounding advancements in the past few years. As those methods permeate the public affairs industry I believe we will see more highly developed and sophisticated efforts on behalf of our clients.
Any advice for aspiring PR/PA pros?
Don’t be afraid to meet new people or reach out to groups and organizations for which you may not feel the most comfortable. Just as with any other industry a lot of it is who you know.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m a bit of an aeronautics nerd. I love planes and air travel so I spend time keeping up on the industry. I also spend a lot of time with my pup, Ella. She enjoys coming to the office for Franklin Fridays.
What was your New Year’s resolution?
Pretty basic resolutions this year; ski more often this winter and increase the regularity of my gym visits.
